(Horrible to imagine, I know). If you drop a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will jump out immediately. But if you put it in a pot and turn up the heat slowly, it will stay. It becomes accustomed to the new reality\u2026 until it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n<p>Becoming burned out is kind of like that \u2014 we often don\u2019t even realize how bad it is until we put the pieces together: \u201cIrritable?\u201d Check. \u201cJoyless and Exhausted?\u201d Check. \u201cConstantly On Edge?\u201d Check. \u201cCan\u2019t Sleep?\u201d Uh huh. \u201cCan\u2019t remember a thing?\u201d Yes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now you can say: Hello burnout! Nice to have you here!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBurning out\u201d is the layperson\u2019s term for the physical, emotional, and cognitive consequences of chronic stress. It can affect everything in your life, from the way you think, to the way you feel physically and emotionally, to your relationships.<br \/>\nUnderstanding what stress really does to you, and why it\u2019s important to change, can help motivate you to reclaim your life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There\u2019s no such thing as a stress-free life anymore<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A stress-free life is a myth! The truth is that stress is a part of life. Some people develop great strategies instinctively to help them deal with it. Others never quite seem to manage to find the balance in life that helps them deal with stress.<br \/>\nBurnout is the end result of countless hours, days, weeks, months, and years of pushing and struggling in career, or a family life, only to find that the goal, that end result that was so important once upon a time, is still out of reach.<br \/>\nIn business, burnout is one of the most common ways that people lose their interest and their ability to function well in their jobs. It can lead to other types of stress, and can also lead to a lack of employment. Burnout occurs much more commonly than many people may realize or be willing to admit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many people take their stresses home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stress in the workplace is a challenge to physical and mental health. But it also often affects other aspects of a person\u2019s life, such as their family. For executives and those professionals whose careers are on the line every day, they tend to bring the pressure of work home with them.<br \/>\nThis can lead to a number of problems within their family life as well.
